Most people are surprised to hear it: one appointment, and your crown is done.
At 207 Dental, Rob and Dr. Jake Donohue mill permanent ceramic crowns right here in the office, so you leave the same day with a finished restoration that's built to last.
Here's what that looks like for you:
That's it. You won't need to schedule a follow-up, juggle your calendar twice, or live with a temporary that doesn't feel quite right.
If you have questions about whether a same-day crown is right for your situation, we're happy to talk it through. You can reach us at 207-524-2024 or request an appointment online.
Wait, I need to actually make the edit. Let me revise the second paragraph properly.
If you're still figuring out whether a crown is even the right next step, that makes complete sense. It's a common question, and the answer depends on what's actually going on with your tooth. Most patients who do need a crown turn out to be great candidates for same-day treatment. The most common reasons we place crowns include cracked or fractured teeth, large areas of decay that a filling can't reliably fix, a worn-down tooth, or protecting a tooth after a root canal. Same-day crowns work well for all of these situations.
There are a few cases where the same-day process may look a little different. Implant crowns, for example, follow a separate timeline tied to how the implant heals. Occasionally, a tooth with significant structural complexity requires additional imaging or planning before we move forward. We'll always be upfront with you about what makes the most sense for your specific tooth.
For the vast majority of patients, though, same-day means exactly that. You come in with a problem, and you leave with a permanent crown the same afternoon.
Not sure if your tooth qualifies? A quick exam is the fastest way to get a clear answer. You can also call us at 207-524-2024 to talk it through before you even schedule.
Understanding the cost of a crown before you commit to anything is a reasonable thing to want. We aim to make this part of the process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Crown costs vary depending on which tooth is involved and the complexity of your specific case. We won't quote a flat number here because that wouldn't be honest. What we can tell you is that same-day CEREC crowns are typically covered by insurance at the same level as traditional crowns, so choosing the faster option usually doesn't cost you more out of pocket.
Before your appointment, our team will verify your insurance benefits so you're not walking in blind. We work with most major dental insurance plans and will help you understand what's covered and what to expect.
For patients who are uninsured or have a balance beyond their coverage, we offer financing through CareCredit to help spread costs over time. Our goal is to make sure cost doesn't stand between you and care you actually need.

At 207 Dental, same-day crowns are designed, milled, and placed all in one visit, so there's no waiting on an outside lab and no return visit required.
But here's what that actually looks like. After your tooth is prepared, we take a digital scan using a small handheld wand. No trays, no impression material, nothing that makes you gag. The scan feeds directly into our design software, where we build your crown on-screen and refine the fit before anything is ever milled.
Once the design is confirmed, the file goes to our Glidewell milling unit, which is located right here in the office. Not a lab in another state, and not a courier pickup. The unit carves your crown from a ceramic block while you relax, and we shade-match the material to blend naturally with your surrounding teeth.
When the crown is ready, we seat it, check your bite, and make any final adjustments before you leave. Most patients are in and out in about two to three hours total.
To learn more about what we offer under one roof, our full list of dental services is a good place to start. Or if you're ready to schedule, you can always reach us directly.
Still have a few things you want to sort out before you call? That's completely normal. Here are the questions we hear most often.
How long does the appointment actually take?
Most same-day crown appointments run about two to three hours from start to finish. That includes the exam, the prep, the digital scan, the milling, and the placement. You leave with a finished crown the same day.
Will it hurt? Do I need to get numb twice?
You'll get numb once at the start, and that's it. While your crown is being milled, you're just relaxing in the chair. There's no second injection and no second appointment to dread.
How long will a same-day crown last?
Same-day crowns are made from high-quality ceramic and are built to last well over a decade with normal care. They're not a shortcut. They're just a faster way to get a durable, well-fitting restoration.
Can I eat normally after?
Yes, typically the same day. We'll give you a few simple guidelines before you leave, but most patients are eating dinner without any issues.
What if I need a crown on an implant? Is that still same-day?
Implant crowns follow a different timeline because the implant itself needs time to integrate with the bone first. Our team will walk you through exactly what to expect at your visit. You can also reach out to us directly if you want to talk through your specific situation before booking.

Still weighing your options or just want to understand what the process looks like? One of the most common things we hear from patients is that the time commitment feels like a barrier. Multiple appointments, a temporary crown that might fall off, more time in the chair. Same-day crowns exist because that concern is real, and it's one we can actually help with.
